2015年9月2日，兩家手機週邊商品電子商務營運商iOttie Inc.以及HSM Co. Ltd.，在美國紐澤西州立地方法院共同向另一家手機週邊商品電子商務營運商Merkury Innovation提出告訴，指控Merkury公司侵害HSM公司所持有的一件專利。
本訴的原告HSM公司為一家韓國公司，而iOttie公司以及本案被告Merkury公司則都是註冊於美國紐約州。
本訴訟中所主張的系爭專利是美國專利第8,627,953號專利「Holder for portable device(手持裝置用的支架)」，公告日2014年1月14日，申請日2011年6月27日，其他國家的相關專利號包括CN103609030A、CN103609030B、US20140009900、WO2012128424A1等等。其發明人為Young Kyu Yeo，原專利權人為HSM公司，且在2014年4月11日HSM公司以排他性授權方式，將系爭專利授權給iOttie公司。
本系爭專利主要的內容涉及一種手持裝置(手機)用的支架，只需通過使手持裝置接觸架放面的簡單的動作，就能夠將手持裝置安全地安裝在支架上。並且通過按壓支架兩側的按鈕的簡單操作，就能夠拆除安裝在支架上的手持裝置。由此，無需經過繁瑣的操作或施加大的物理性力量，也能夠安全地架放或拆除手持裝置。
在訴狀中，原告指出Merkury所銷售的手機支架，尤其是型號為MI-UPVM1的車用三合一手機支架(Merkury 3-in-1 Smartphone Car Mount)，直接或間接侵害了上述系爭專利，因而提出損害賠償。(1020字；表2)

1. A holder for a portable device, comprising:
a main body having the portable device received on a front surface portion thereof;
a first switch formed at a designated position of the front surface portion of the main body so as to be pushed into and protruded from the front surface portion;
