2013年8月1日，總部設立於美國紐約州的Guidance IP LLC，於美國佛羅里達州中區地方法院，指控總部位於美國華盛頓的行動通訊服務業者T-Mobile USA, Inc. (T-Mobile)之行動通訊網路位置定位系統，侵犯其專利權，要求法院核發永久禁制令、也要求合理的權利金、損害賠償以及訴訟律師費之補償等。
本案系爭專利共1項，為美國專利編號US 5,719,584，名稱為決定傳送器的地理位置定位的系統及方法(System and method for determining the geolocation of a transmitter)，係於1996年9月3日申請，1998年2月17日核發，該專利原始專利權人為Harris Corporation，係由Harris Corporation先轉手給North South Holdings Inc.，最後再轉手給Guidance IP LLC。
Guidance IP LLC於訴狀中指出，挑選佛羅里達州地方法院為管轄法院的理由之一，是因為原專利權人Harris Corporation的總部設立於佛羅里達州。
本案原告Guidance IP LLC，為North South Holdings Inc.(“North South”)全資子公司，而North South成立於2012年，為專利授權公司(non-practicing entity; NPE)。據了解，North South於2012年從Harris Corporation收購了超過200項的專利。
本案被告T-Mobile USA, Inc.成立於1994年，為電信公司，擁有超過四千多萬的行動通訊網路用戶。(685字；表2)
