2011年3月12日, 美商巨積公司LSI Corporation(下稱LSI)與其全資子公司Agere System Inc.(下稱Agere)於美國國際貿易委員會(下稱ITC)指控日商Funai Electric Company, Ltd.(下稱Funai)、台灣IC設計龍頭聯發科(MediaTek Inc.)、聯發科的子公司雷凌(Ralink Technology Corporation)、與瑞昱半導體(Realtek Semiconductor Corp.)的無線通訊單元與視聽單元侵犯其專利，因此訴請ITC啟動調查並限制使用該些爭議單元的產品進口美國。
同一天，LSI與Agere也以相同專利在加州中部法院控告Funai及P&F USA。但是，並未提告聯發科、雷凌與瑞昱，原因不明。
本案爭議專利有四件：
US5,870,087：MPEG decoder system and method having a unified memory for transport decode and system controller functions
US6,452,958：Digital modulation system using extended code set
US6,707,867：Wireless local area network apparatus
US6,982,663：Method and system for symbol binarization
該些專利係由LSI Logic Corporation於1996年11月至2004年2月之間申請，並於1996年2月至2006年1月之間取得專利權。
LSI與Agere表示US6,452,958與US6,707,867是揭露一種與802.11 WLAN協定相關的電信架構；US6,982,663是揭露一種高效率的多媒體訊號編碼與解碼的方法；US5,870,087是揭露一種用以傳輸解碼訊號的MPEG單儲存解碼系統。
根據訴狀，LSI與Agere宣稱日商Funai集團(包含Funai Electric Company, Ltd.、Funai Corporation, Inc.、P&F USA, Inc.、Funai Service Corporation)、聯發科集團(包含MedaiTek Inc.、MedicTek USA Inc.、Media Wireless, Inc.)與聯發科的子公司雷凌(包含Ralink Technology Corporation、Ralink Semiconductor Corporation)所製造或銷售的數位電視(DTVs)、藍光播放機(Blu-ray disc players)、DVD播放機、DTV/DVD 二合一播放器、DTV/Blu-Ray二合一播放器、多媒體串流播放器(multimedia streaming players)數位家庭劇院系統(home theater systems)，使用了上述被專利保護的技術；LSI與Agere在美國境內已投入高額的研發經費，且曾授權該專利給Acer、Sony、Mitsumi等電子公司，符合337條款國內產業之要件，因此請求ITC調查並限制被告的侵權產品輸入美國。

LSI是一間世界知名的儲存設備供應與網路設備服務商。其提供的儲存設備產品包含一般快閃記憶體、企業級快閃記憶體、雲端儲存設備、固態硬碟等；其網路設備業務包含了建置資料中心、供應非對稱多核通信處理器、乃至建置家庭網路環境等。 (699字；表1)
