2014年7月22日Digital Empire Limited (以下稱DEL)，於美國南加州州聯邦地方法院(United States District Court for the Southern District of California)向Compal Electronics, Inc.(仁寶電腦工業股份有限公司)，以及其子公司Henghao Technology Co., Ltd, Bizcom Electronics Inc., Auscom Engineering Inc. (以下合稱為仁寶)提起專利侵權訴訟，指控仁寶代工製造之筆記型電腦之觸控面板，侵害DEL所擁有的US8,081,169 (以下稱’169專利)美國專利。
本案系爭’169專利名稱為「具有觸控感應功能之覆蓋菱鏡與其製造方法(Cover lens with touch-sensing function and method for fabricating the same)」，其原專利權人為Cando Corporation(達鴻先進科技)。
Digital Empire Limited成立於避稅天堂賽摩亞(Samoa)，推測DEL為達鴻先進科技成立之專利授權公司，代替達鴻先進科技主張專利權。達鴻先進科技原名劍度，成立於1994年，主要從事光學及光通訊鍍膜元件、ITO導電玻璃生產，2003年被明基友達集團收購，2011年明基友達集團將股份移轉予宸鴻集團，方更名為『達鴻先進科技股份有限公司』。
Bizcom Electronics為仁寶在美國之子公司，與仁寶同為專業電子產品製造服務商。Auscom Engineering是筆記型電腦相關產品及組件等軟硬體研發中心。Henghao Technology(恆顥科技)則發展中、大尺寸玻璃投射式電容觸控面板及其關鍵零組件之研發、製造與銷售等相關業務。
DEL控告仁寶幫Dell, HP與Acer代工製造之筆記型電腦中所使用的觸控面板，皆是利用系爭專利技術。仁寶未經DEL同意，即逕行利用其專利技術製造、使用、販賣與進口系爭侵權產品，已直接且間接侵害DEL專利權，DEL請求法院判決仁寶侵害專利權，核發永久禁制令，以排除仁寶繼續侵害專利，並要求仁寶需支付專利侵害損害、懲罰性賠償金與訴訟相關費用。(636字；表2)
