2014年6月4日Imation Corporation (下稱Imation)，於美國明尼蘇達州聯邦地方法院(The Minnesota District Court)向創見(Transcend Information, Inc.；以下稱Transcend)提起專利侵權訴訟，指控Transcend所製造販賣之隨身碟，侵害Transcend所擁有的US6,890,188(以下稱’188專利)美國專利。
Imation(怡敏信公司)是一家可擴展儲存和資料安全領域的供應商，主要產品包括為企業提供分級儲存和資料安全解決方案，以及為家庭提供的視頻和音頻產品，產品線遍及磁學、光學、儲存式卡碟、可攜式硬碟、可攜式超薄型光碟機及Defender防禦者系列等六大類。
Imation還擁有子品牌Memorex，也藉由併購擴展市場與技術領域，包括於2007年併購TDK的儲存媒體事業，擁有TDK Life on Record品牌的全球獨家販售權，2008年併購蘋果電腦的配件供應商XtremeMac，2013年收購硬碟儲存系統供應商Nexsan。本案系爭’188專利名稱為「符合裝置連接器與主機連接器標準之記憶卡(Memory card compatible with device connector and host connector standards)」，是一種插取式、可隨時移除之記憶卡裝置技術。
Transcend(創見資訊)是消費性電子與工業用產品供應商，產品線包含各式記憶體模組、記憶卡、讀卡機、隨身碟、音樂播放器、外接式硬碟、固態硬碟、工業用產品與其他週邊產品，
Imation控告Transcend所提供之USB隨身碟Transcend’s JetFlashR 380 OTG flash drive，未經Imation同意，即逕行利用其專利技術製造、使用、販賣與進口系爭侵權產品，已直接侵害Imation之專利權，Imation請求法院判決Transcend直接與唆使、幫助侵害專利權，核發永久禁制令，以排除Transcend之侵權行為，並要求Transcend需支付專利侵害損害與訴訟相關費用。(799字；表2)
