2014年3月26日CATR CO., LTD. (以下稱CATR)，於美國北伊利諾州聯邦地方法院東分院(United States District Court, The Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division)向IPMEDIA HOLDINGS, INC., d/b/a CUSTOM USB, CUSTOMUSB.COM (以下合稱IPMedia)提起專利侵權訴訟，指控IPMedia所製造販賣的USB隨身碟侵害CATR所擁有的US. 6,926,544 (以下簡稱’544專利)美國專利。
CATR是一家韓國公司，2012年取得’544專利權。目前CATR尚未自行申請取得美國專利，僅藉由讓渡取得’544專利一項美國專利權。’544專利名稱為「具有單一旋轉蓋體之快閃記憶體裝置(Flash memory apparatus having single body type rotary cover)」，專利技術提供一種單一主體之快閃記憶體裝置，利用一可旋轉式之蓋體，作為快閃記憶體USB接頭之保護蓋設計。
被告IPMedia是一家USB快閃記憶裝置供應商，主要業務為提供客製化之USB快閃記憶裝置之設計與製造。
CATR控告IPMedia所設計、販賣的USB隨身碟裝置，包括Spin、SanDisk Custom USB Spin、Spin Mobile與Mini Spin Mobile都使用’544專利技術，IPMedia未經CATR專利授權，即製造、使用、進口、銷售系爭產品，已直接侵害’544專利權。CATR請求法院裁定IPMedia專利侵權，並要求IPMedia需支付專利侵害損害與訴訟相關費用。(702字；表3)
