醫療照護資料管理專利訴訟 MLP Technology控告LifeMed

2013年12月6日，總部位於俄亥俄州的MLP Technology, Inc（下稱MLP Technology），向北俄亥俄州聯邦地方法院（Northern District of Ohio）提起訴訟，控告總部位於加州的LifeMed ID, Inc（下稱LifeMed），所販售的產品，侵害其專利權。MLP Technology除要求法院禁止LifeMed的侵權行為外，並要求LifeMed賠償其損失。

原告MLP Technology成立於2007年，主要產品是MyChoice。MyChoice是一套緊急救護醫療管理系統，使用者透過該系統可以上傳個人病歷、意外發生時的緊急聯絡人，以及指定救援醫院與醫護人員等資料，萬一不幸發生意外時，經由簡易的指紋或會員身分認證，醫護人員就能快速取得使用者的各項資料，進一步進行急救。被告LifeMed成立於2008年，和MLP Technology是同業。

本案系爭專利為美國專利編號US 8,234,125，專利名稱為「醫療照護資料管理（Health Care Data Management）」，於2012年7月31日核發，是由Ruth E. Skocic所研發的專利，原專利權人是MLP Technology。發明人Ruth E. Skocic為MLP Technology的執行長。（453字；表2）
