2013年8月6日，總部位於美國德州的Silver Screen Tele-Reality, Inc. (d/b/a SiSTeR Technologies;以”SisTeR”明稱從事商業行為，下稱SisTeR)，於美國北德州地方法院達拉斯分院，指控總部位於美國紐約的Gabriels Technology Solutions, Inc. (“Gabriels”)之VOD(Video on demand; 隨選視訊)相關影像處理技術，侵犯其專利權，要求合理的權利金、損害賠償以及訴訟律師費之補償等。
本案系爭專利共1項，為美國專利編號US 8,353,406，名稱為產生一影像晶片的系統、方法以及電腦可讀取媒體(System, method, and computer readable medium for creating a video clip)，係於2010年12月28日申請，2013年1月15日核發，原始及目前專利權人為Silver Screen Tele-Reality, Inc.。
本案原告Silver Screen Tele-Reality, Inc.，成立於2003年，主要致力於影像處理相關技術，如影像自動呈像技術、邊緣切割及影像搜尋等。除了本案系爭專利外，其下尚有一篇與本案系爭專利為同一專利家族的美國專利，其編號為US 7,882,258。
