2013年5月30日，總部設立於美國德州的Video Streaming Solutions LLC(下稱Video Streaming)，於美國北伊利諾州地方法院東區分院，指控總部位於美國伊利諾州的Motorola Solutions, Inc.、總部位於美國伊利諾州的Google全資子公司Motorola Mobility, LLC(下合稱Motorola)以及總部位美國喬治亞州的通訊設備製造商ArrisGroup, Inc.之電視影像處理技術侵犯其專利權，要求損害賠償及合理權利金之補償等。
本案系爭專利共5項，分別為美國專利編號US6,629,318、US6,870,886、US6,806,909、US5,566,208，以及US 6,175,595。該些專利的原始專利權人為美國飛利浦(Philips Electronics North America Corporation)，之後再經由荷蘭的皇家飛利浦(Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V.)或是直接由美國飛利浦轉讓給IPG Electronics 503 Limited，最後才轉手到Video Streaming Solutions LLC。其中US 6,806,909還曾經轉手給知名的專利授權管理公司Thomson licensing S.A.(法國，下稱Thomson licensing)，但之後又轉回給飛利浦。
經研析，本案系爭專利主要關於影像的編碼、解碼、轉碼、串流以及傳輸等處理程序，據了解Thomson licensing亦有針對類似的技術向許多科技公司收取專利權利金，但本案這幾項專利卻不屬於Thomson licensing，所以Video Streaming從飛利浦取得這5項專利是否為影像處理的核心技術或是標準技術則需要深入研究。
本案原告Video Streaming Solutions LLC總部位於美國德州，目前並無太多相關資料，但這次並非該公司第一次提起訴訟，曾於2012年3月30對Cisco Systems Inc.(思科)提告；經查USPTO網站其共擁有8項專利，後續值得關注是否對其他廠商興起大規模的訴訟。(652字；表2)
