2011 年 6 月 8 日專利授權公司 Round Rock Research LLC 向甲骨文 (Oracle) 及 Dell 提出侵權告訴，指出侵犯其 8 項專利，涉及 電腦及伺服器管理系統、故障自動回報管理系統、顯示管理系統等相關技術。
本案系爭專利 8 項， 其中 US 6243838 (Method for automatically reporting a system failure in a server) 曾經於 2004 年打過訴訟戰，摩托羅拉與美光最後雙方和解。該專利連同本案其他系爭專利一併移轉給 Round Rock Research 公司，充分運用將專利價值極大化。

據查 Round Rock Research LLC 公司，截至目前為止，共提出兩件訴訟案，另外一件於 2010 年對宏達電 (HTC) 。
Round Rock Research LLC 公司創辦人 John Desmarais 曾經是 15 年經驗年薪上億的 Kirkland & Ellis 律師事務所的專業律師。他具有化工背景及法律專業學位。 2009 年 12 月自美光 (Micron) 購買 4500 項專利的組合後，自立門戶積極投入專利授權業務，包含的專利組合技術有： 電池及電力、CMOS 影像、電腦、電腦繪圖、電腦網路、顯示技術、動態隨機存取記憶體（DRAM）、快閃（Flash）、記憶體、微處理器、作業系統軟體、半導體封裝、半導體製程、RFID、以及電信通訊 。Round Rock 宣稱目前智慧財產組合的授權對象包括蘋果電腦、索尼、三星、美光以及諾基亞。 (310 字；表 1)
