2010年3月15日Video Enhancement Solutions公司於喬治亞州北區地院提告三星等九家影像播放機(video players)廠商侵權，有關於影像壓解 (video compression and decompression)處理影像塊效應(blocking artifacts)技術應用於藍光播放機、MP3或智慧型手機等消費電子產品，侵犯了原告擁有的二件專利(US7,397,965、US7,492,960) 。該系爭專利皆為原始專利權人LG Electronics所有，經多次轉讓後由Video Enhancement Solutions LLC公司取得專利權。
影像壓解過程易出現異常大區塊像素造成影像失真，稱為影像塊效應(blocking artifacts)或被稱為“macroblocking”。
據原告訴狀指稱，被告廠商未經合法授權生產、製造、使用及銷售該二項專利技術，原告請求法院向被告尋求侵權損害賠償。
