評析：
進行專利調查，最基本與最重要的步驟就是建立專利權人的名稱統一方法。而這個名稱統一方法是商用專利資料庫重要差異化特色之一，原因無他，如何快速與正確的找到特定專利權人的專利是所有檢索與分析之基礎。
以上新聞併購新聞為例，如果要調查STMicroelectronics或是Genesis Microchip在美國、歐洲或WIPO專利，直接進入Delphion商用資料庫，利用” Corporate Tree”功能可快速與簡易的得到初步專利統計如圖一所示（該功能為1790 Analytics公司所發展），亦可看出該公司於不同國家專利佈局強弱。
然而，如果要進一步獲得該公司在美國、歐洲與WIPO之外之完整專利佈局，例如台灣或是中國大陸，便會發生語言轉換上與是公司名稱使用上之困擾。
例如要調查Genesis Microchip與STMicroelectronics中文名稱，進入Google搜尋可能會找到如美商捷尼半導體公司與意法半導體等稱呼。但是，若使用捷尼半導體或是捷尼，在中華民國專利資料庫卻找不到屬於Genesis Microchip專利，而意法半導體也僅有一件，換言之，專利資料中名稱使用與一般使用（商業或其他）有很大差異。
由上觀測，建立一名稱統一機制為搜尋國外企業在台灣專利佈局之重要工作。基於此，本文提出策略如下：
- 進入INPADOC 資料庫搜尋STMicroelectronics或Genesis Microchip在台灣（TW）申請之專利。
- 獲得上述專利列表。
- 進入中華民國專利資料庫，檢索步驟2之專利號。
- 統計步驟3所得專利之專利權人統計。
- 獲得對照表。
以本新聞為例，STMicroelectronics與Genesis Microchip名稱如表一所示，其中Genesis Microchip在中華民國專利資料庫稱謂分別為吉尼西斯微晶片公司與根尼西司微晶片公司。最後，Genesis Microchip在台灣專利列表如表二所示，企業基本簡介也可利用Google Finance查詢，如表三所示STMicroelectronics與Genesis Microchip在Google Finance之介紹，供讀者參考。(1368字；表3；圖1)
