在【LSI與Agere聯合控告全球18家半導體公司侵權觀察】文中，我們報導美商巨積公司（LSI）和旗下傑爾（Agere）部門控告全球18家公司侵權。
五個月過去了，全球半導體公司紛紛反擊，包括7月25日，National Semiconductor在東德州聯邦地方法院，控告LSI與Agere侵犯US5,227,335。Freescale分別於2008年8月8日與15日，在東德州聯邦地方法院與國際貿易委員會（ITC）控告LSI與Agere侵犯US5,467,455、US5,776,798與US6,473,349。2008年9月16日，茂德在德拉瓦州聯邦地方法院控告LSI與Agere侵犯US5,488,709。全球主要半導體公司近期專利訴訟，如表一所示。
明顯的，針對LSI與Agere的攻擊，全球主要半導體公司已經展開反擊，而反擊方式多採用反告對方也侵權。主要原因是專利US5,227,335有效性極高，且被告們侵權可能性也很高，反控對方侵權可拉高公司談判籌碼。National Semiconductor如此，Freescale如此，茂德亦如此。
根據科技產業資訊室調查，茂德控告LSI與Agere專利是由茂矽購買而得，在2004年到2005年中，茂矽共移轉給茂德64件專利，如表二。若根據購買總價與全部64件專利，平均每個專利約3千5百萬新台幣計，取得總成本也需2千2佰4拾億新台幣。
