新聞：（2008年4月28日Foxbusiness.com-MOSAID Grants First Wireless Patent Portfolio License to Matsushita Electric）MOSAID Technologies Inc. today announced that Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. ("Matsushita"), best known for its Panasonic brand, is the first company to take a license to MOSAID's wireless patents.
Under the terms of the patent portfolio license agreement, Matsushita has been granted a six-and-a-half year term license under MOSAID's wireless patents for its Wi-Fi, WiMAX and CDMA-enabled notebook PCs and other products sold globally, with the exception of mobile handsets. Financial details of the agreement are confidential.
評析：
根據Mosaid網站說明，相關無線專利組合（Wireless Patent Portfolio）是在去年2月從Agere System（LSI Corp.）購買而來，內容如表一所示。該專利組合共計20個核准專利，3個申請中專利，涵蓋範圍包括美國、日本、德國、法國、英國與加拿大等國家。
從【茂德、茂矽取得Mosaid專利授權與Mosaid專利活動調查】一文可以看出，Mosaid在全球均採取積極主張專利權。此外，據新聞稿指出，Matsushita是全球第一個接受此無線專利組合廠商。需要說明，如果Matsushita已經接受授權條件，其他使用Wi-Fi與WiMax之電腦或手持載具廠商，勢必已經（或也將）面臨相同授權議題。
Agere System去年轉讓給Mosaid專利如表二所示。統計美國移轉專利與全球移轉專利共計23個。
對於台灣相關廠商而言，需要小心Mosaid無線專利組合追討權利金動作，也需仔細研究本案專利組合的有效性與產品侵權等問題。最後，以Mosaid在半導體專利授權經驗論，只要上述兩點成立，要躲過Mosaid追討權利金是不容易的。當然最重要的，準備應戰吧！(811字；表2)

In February 2007, MOSAID purchased a portfolio of WiFi and WiMAX patents that firmly established the Company's patent licensing program in another of the world's largest and fastest growing technology markets. The portfolio includes patents that are essential to the 802.11 family of WLAN (or WiFi) standards, and the 802.16 family of WiMAX standards. Most of the world's laptop computers, handheld gaming devices, video game consoles, WiFi-enabled handsets and other wireless products/systems are designed to comply with these standards.
MOSAID's wireless portfolio consists of 20 issued patents in the United States, Japan, Germany, France, Great Britain and Canada, and three pending patents in the United States and Europe.
