2015年10月5日，設立於美國德州的專利授權公司Sockeye Licensing TX LLC，於美國德州東區法院馬歇爾分院提起專利訴訟，指控宏達電美國公司HTC America, Inc.侵害其所持有的2項美國專利，分別為US8,135,342 (以下稱’342專利) 與US8,879,987 (以下稱’987專利)，簡述如下：
- ‘342專利名稱為「System, method and apparatus for using a wireless cell phone device to create a desktop computer and media center ( 使用無線手機裝置產生一個桌上型電腦與媒體中心的系統、方法與裝置)」，於2012年03月13日公告，專利申請號為11/898,912，申請日2007年09月17日，優先權日期為2007年09月17日，共有76個權利項，第1、11、20、34、45、58、68項為獨立項。
- ‘987專利名稱為「System, method and apparatus for using a wireless device to control other devices (使用一個無線裝置來控制其他裝置的系統、方法與裝置)」，於2014年11月04日公告，專利申請號為13/418,829，申請日2012年03月13日，優先權日期為2007年09月17日，共有47個權利項，第1、6、7、11、12、20、32、40項為獨立項。
此二專利專利發明人皆為Harold, Michael D.，現專利權人也皆為Sockeye。專利主要為一種系統、方法與裝置，使用手機或其他通訊裝置作為連接，溝通與控制裝置，能夠連接一個全尺寸桌上型監視器或其他數位顯示裝置、鍵盤、滑鼠、喇叭、印表機與其他外部裝置連到無線手機裝置。此無線手機裝置用來產生一個網際網路或其他網路連結，能進入有連到網際網路的標準電腦能進入的網頁或軟體應用。

發明人Mr. Michael D. Harold最初花了許多年將專利商品化，他的目標是提供軟硬體解決方案給手機市場，使裝置間的使用者資訊能更有效接合，並於2009年秋完成硬體解決方案原型，初步在一個Linux架構的觸控螢幕智慧型手機Openmoko Neo上開發。2000年初，成立Zamboola公司將發明商品化，並以智財向創投募資。
Sockeye於訴狀中指出，被告所提供具有Wi-Fi功能的產品侵害到了系爭專利的系統與方法，例如被告產品HTC One通過Wi-Fi聯盟的MiracastTM認證，而Wi-Fi聯盟的官網所揭示的MiracastTM為產業標準技術，Sockeye認為此技術與功能已侵害系爭專利。
Sockeye除本案外，於同一法院以相同系爭專利在2015年10月5、6日間同時提起了另外44個專利訴訟案，被告包括Roku、ASUS、IOGEAR、Sony、Netgear、Xerox、Dell、ZTE、Toshiba、Logitech、NEC、Western Digital、Barco、Canon、Yamaha、Huawei、Sharp、InFocus、Fujitsu、BlackBerry、NVIDIA、LG、Ricoh、D-Link、Epson、Pioneer、Measy、Amazon、Philips、Panasonic、Vtooland、Actiontec、Rocketfish、Yakel、Alpine、Fujifilm、Lexmark、Lenovo、Belkin、Oki、HP、Harman、Samsung、Alcatel-Lucent。(959字；表3)
