2012年06月05日，芬蘭廠商Suomen Colorize Oy(以下稱SCO)以1項專利侵權為由，控告美商威瑞森通訊(Verizon Communications Inc.)及其子公司(以下統稱Verizon)所製造、使用、販賣之通訊服務侵權，全案將由美國德拉瓦州聯邦地院負責審理調查。
本案系爭專利US7,277,398，名稱為「在電信網路提供服務之方法及終端(Method and terminal for providing services in telecommunication network)」，於1998年07月15日申請，優先權日為1997年07月17日，且於2007年10月02日獲准。獨立發明人為Makipaa，專利權由Domiras OY於2010年讓與給原告SCO。系爭專利之申請專利範圍其請求項共23項，獨立項有6項(第1、13、18、20、21、23項)。
根據原告SCO在訴狀中指稱，被告Verizon所製造、使用、販賣之通訊服務如網路、電信及視訊等合稱FiOS之系統侵害其專利權，爭議產品例如具FiOS服務之FiOS電視，FiOS電視具有電子節目指南(Electronic Program Guide, EPG)。
Verizon Communications Inc.總部設於美國紐約，及其子公司Verizon Services Corp.、Verizon Online LLC、Verizon Delaware LLC等，是專門提供寬頻、視頻和其他無線及有線通信服務的公司。(584字；表1)
