2012年6月5日，設立於美國德州公司Lamina Packaging Innovations, LLC (下稱Lamina)，向中佛羅里達州聯邦地院提起專利侵權告訴，控告知名電影導演柯波拉(Francis Ford Coppola，著名作品為「教父」系列)、以其個人做為品牌所設立之產品行銷公司Francis Ford Coppola Presents, LLC與酒廠Francis Ford Coppola Winery, LLC (下稱柯波拉酒廠等公司)，其所行銷販售的酒類產品外包裝(例如氣泡酒Sofia Mini Blanc de Blancs之四瓶裝紙盒包裝)，侵犯Lamina所擁有、由多層黏合之紙板所製成的層壓包裝紙箱專利，特別是該專利之請求項17。
本案系爭專利為美國專利編號US 6,207,242，名稱為「具備強化之內部與外部的層壓包裝(Laminated package with enhanced interior and exterior)」，發明人為Roger P. Hoffman，原始權利人則為發明人所創辦的Hoffman Environmental System, Inc.公司，該專利於2001年3月27日核發。
Lamina亦在同日、向相同法院基於同項專利提起另一項專利侵權告訴，其被告為另一家名人品牌、生產販售化妝品的Sara Hopp, Inc.公司；在該起告訴中，Lamina
指陳Sara Hopp, Inc.的唇膏產品包裝亦侵犯了本案系爭專利權利。 (572字；表2)
