2012年05月16日，總部設於美國德拉瓦州的意法半導體(STMicroelectronics, Inc. 以下簡稱STI)以9項專利侵權為由，控告設於美國加州的應美盛(InvenSense, Inc. 以下稱InvenSense)，全案將由美國加州北部聯邦地院負責審理調查。
本案的系爭專利有9件，分別為：US6,504,253、US6,846,690、US6,405,592、US6,546,799，US6,928,872、US7,450,332、US7,409,291、US5,874,850及US5,986,861，皆為原告STI所擁有。系爭專利主要涉及半導體製造方法、以其方法製造之慣性傳感器、以其方法製造之集成陀螺儀、自由落體檢測方法及具自由落體保護系統之電子裝置、自動檢測設備及應用於其中之夾具。
- US6,504,253：Structure for electrically connecting a first body of semiconductor material overlaid by a second body of semiconductor material composite structure using electric connection structure
- US6,846,690：Integrated circuit comprising an auxiliary component, for example a passive component or a microelectromechanical system, placed above an electronic chip, and the corresponding fabrication process
- US6,405,592：Hermetically-sealed sensor with a movable microstructure
- US6,546,799：An inertial sensor having a stator and a rotor made of semiconductor material and electrostatically coupled together, and a microactuator also made of semiconductor material, coupled to the rotor and controlled so as to move the rotor itself and thus compensate for the position offset thereof
- US6,928,872：Integrated gyroscope of semiconductor material with at least one sensitive axis in the sensor plane
- US7,450,332：Free-fall detection device and free-fall protection system for a portable electronic apparatus
- US7,409,291：Device for automatic detection of states of motion and rest, and portable electronic apparatus incorporating it
- US5,874,850：Mos voltage elevator of the charge pump type
- US5,986,861：Clamp
根據原告STI在訴狀中指稱，被告Invensense所生產之微機電產品如微機電陀螺儀(MEMS gyroscopes)，舉凡可用於數位相機和具照像功能之手機以穩定圖像；可用於衛星定位裝置以推算航位(dead reckoning)；及可用於3D周邊產品如3D滑鼠(3D mice)、電視搖控器和遊戲控制器等之微機電產品，侵害其專利權。例如在任天堂(Nintendo) Wii motionplus 配件、任天堂Wii搖控桿、任天堂3DS 及Roku 2 XS中所使用之如型號ITG/IMU/MPU-3000、MPU-6050、ITG-3205、IDG-600、ITG-3270等系列產品；在樂金(LG)Magic 搖控器中所使用之如IXZ-500系列產品；在羅技(Logitech) MX Air滑鼠和空中飛鼠(Air Mouse Elite from Gyration) 中所使用之如型號IDG-300系列產品；在樂金Optimus Black P970中所使用之如型號MPU-3050系列產品(以上僅為列舉)。
原告STMicroelectronics, Inc.之控股公司為設於荷蘭之STMicroelectronics NV，而上述公司及其各子公司及相關企業以下統稱ST。ST是一家國際性的微機電系統(MEMS)半導體生產商，根據原告STI所述，STI及ST集團在全球已擁有超過21,500件專利及專利申請案。
被告Invensense於2003年成立，主要生產MotionTracking?部件，可用於消費電子產品如智能手機、平板電腦、遊戲控制器、可穿戴式傳感器中。(666字；表 1)
