General Components, Inc(GCI)於2011年3月10日在美國東維吉尼亞地方法院，對Micron、United Electric Controls Company、Setra Systems、Mott及Mass Flow Meter等公司提出訴訟，有關於微接頭元件(face sealing fittings)技術專利侵權，並要求被告支付賠償金及判決前利息(prejudgment interest)。
本案系爭專利編號為US 5,505,464，於1992年8月31日提出申請，1996年4月9日獲准，發明人Raymond Garvey即為GCI的總裁，此件專利主要涉及連接並密封管狀導管的技術，用來使無效體積降為最低。464專利為07/694,066的部分延續案，該 案於1991年5月1日提出申請，1993年6月20日獲准為專利號US 5,222,747。464專利另為07/652,225的部分延續案，該案於1991年2月6日提出申請，並為放棄狀態。根據推算，本案專利權現已到 期。
值得注意的是，464專利於2003年經由第三方向美國專利局提出單方再審查(Ex parte reexamination)，要求確認其部份專利請求項之有效性。經過二次審查意見，GCI不服判決結果並向專利上訴與爭議委員會(The Board of Patent Appeals and Interference，BPAI)提出上訴，終於在2011年2月8日取得再審查認證 (Reexamination Certification)：新增專利請求項，將原有23項專利請求項調整為26項。
除了本次訴訟外，GCI於2011年3月7日同樣以464專利控告CKD USA Corporation，全案由美國伊利諾州北區地方法院接受審理。GCI發動的此二次訴訟皆發生於取得再審查認證之後，是否與當年第三方提出的單方再審查有關，相當耐人尋味。
GCI位於美國馬里蘭州的製造網路線、插線面板及光纖等網路設備的製造商，擁有美國獲准專利八件、美 國申請中專利二件，由表二可得知，CGI的專利案多於早年申請，大多集中在1990年至2001年。GCI的總裁Raymond Garvey也是專利的發明人。(567字；表2)
