2009年12月14日網路解決方案提供商BetaNet於美國德克薩斯州東部地方法院提訴18家公司侵犯其專利，包括蘋果、IBM、Adobe、柯達、索尼和微軟。
BetaNet宣稱被告公司侵犯了其2件專利(US5,222,134及US5,103,476)，有關於“遠程啟動個人電腦軟體的安全系統”。該專利係於1993年6月22日由TAU SYSTEMS CORPORATION獲證取得美國專利，TAU SYSTEMS CORPORATION與原告公司的關係為何，無法獲知。BetaNet在起訴書中特別指出，蘋果的iTunes、Aperture、QuickTime和MobileMe使用了該項技術而侵犯了其專利。
BetaNet請求法院給予永久禁制令(Permanent Injunction)，並要求侵權行為賠償。
