2015年9月3日，設於德州的專利授權公司 Carnition LLC (以下稱原告) 於美國聯邦德克薩斯東區法院馬歇爾分院 (United States District Court Eastern District of Texas Marshall Division)提起專利訴訟，指控華碩 (以下稱被告) 侵害原告所持有的1項US7,428,707美國專利 (以下稱’707專利)。
本案系爭’707專利名稱為「可客製化進入網站之系統及其方法(Customizable web site access system and method therefore)」，於2008年09月23日公告，專利申請號為10/698,332，申請日2003年10月31日，優先權日期為2001年04月24日，共有11個權利項，第1、7項為獨立項。發明人為Quimby, David H.，現專利權人為Adaptive Avenue Associates, Inc.。從專利移轉記錄得知，於2004年3月15日發明人進行唯一一次移轉給Adaptive Avenue Associates, Inc.。
本系爭專利為於電腦進入網頁的一種系統，包括一個編輯器，透過自動從所要進入的網頁摘錄網頁細節內容，而構成網站投影播放展示，網頁細節包括有多個網址的鏈結、網頁內的展示/播放文件夾以及網頁內的元標籤(meta tag)，同時該系統亦擁有一個展示器，依序顯示從網頁細節內容所摘錄而提供的多個網址的網頁投影播放。
原告於訴狀中指出，被告在其官網www.asus.com/us的Zenbook UX305F產品的展示系統中使用一個編輯器自動摘錄網頁資料，被告經由製造、使用、進口、邀約銷售或銷售該產品與服務，以及所有類似產品與服務，侵害了’707專利。
原告至今僅以此專利發動專利訴訟，且集中在今年9月3日與9月8日，除本案外，共對其他17個對象提起17件專利侵權訴訟案，地點都在德克薩斯東區法院。原告為2015年6月26日甫於德州註冊成立的公司。(890字；表3)
